The implications of Geary's research suggest self-teaching is over-rated. The self-appraising culture of textbook writers is anything goes, so long as it comes from the lips of a 'college educator'. American taxpayers should re-examine how institutions go about creating textbooks.

To start with, in education, less is more and more is less.
