Vote for Randy Dorn - Make sure you are registered

Primaries are the third week in August.
It is time to replace our Superintendent of Public Instruction.

  1. Oh. My. God.

Randy Dorn rivals Terry Bergeson as Washington's biggest union wh*re, and Dan Dempsey's campaigning for him.

You see, Dorn is the head of a major union and a former legislator. He and a union lobbyist tried to persuade the legislature to pass legislation that would boost retirement pensions. So how many people would the legislation have helped?

Just two - Randy Dorn and his lobbyist crony. They don't come any sleazier, folks. And I'm not susrprise that Dan Dempsey would endorse such a sleazebag, because Dempsey is working for the dark side, too.

Should I cut Dorn (and Dempsey) a little slack because Dorn is speaking out against the WASL?

Take a closer look. As head of an education committee, Dorn was part of the team that dumped the WASL on us in the first place. Fortunately, Dorn realized his error - just in time for his campaign for public office. Kind of reminds me of all the politicians who supported the war in Iraq, but are now writing tell-all books years after the invasion. In other words, they're trying to cash in on their crimes.

If you think I'm making all this stuff, read "Friends in High Places" at http://www.tri-cityherald.com/io/story/197534.html

It's one of the few respectable articles about this race the corporate media have published.

In the meantime, one candidate is discussing far more issues than Dorn even mentions at SeattleMafia.org.

    David Blomstrom

  2. Here is a hot link to the article David references.

I think the fact that Randy Dorn was involved in the original legislation that got the WASL rolling hardly makes him responsible for the total mess that Bergeson has created over her 12 years in office.

Rich Semler championed using the MAP test, Measure of Academic Progress. This computerized branching test is usually administered three times a year per child and gives immediate feedback at a cost of $12 per child per year.

I am in favor of MAP testing replacing the current WASL, but if and when it does it will be called the WASL. It will be the Washington Assessment of Student Learning. yes Dorn had a hand in WASL creation but he did not create TB's WASL mess.

"Fortunately, Dorn realized his error".... not his error it was TB's and the SBE was of little help in controlling TB.

I disagree with faulting Dorn for introducing and promoting legislation that could have been very good but was corrupted by TB.

It is an easy decision to campaign for Randy Dorn as even though I would have preferred Rich Semler, Randy is the only candidate with a chance to remove TB from office.

I certainly am pleased that David Blomstrom is running as it makes it less likely that TB will get over 50% in the primary and thus be instantly elected without a November run-off election. (a characteristic of only non-partisan positions)

    David,

I would appreciate it if you would file a recall complaint on Cheryl Chow for her misfeasance in extending the Superintendent's contract one year and raising MG-J's salary 10% while not following the school board's own policies in doing so. There was no emergency and she had a one meeting introductory item/action item slam dunk in violation of Board Policy.

She is again excluding public input.

You mention a Seattle Mafia .... I have no idea if you think Cheryl Chow is a member or agent of this organization (if it exists) but this action sure smacked of a mafia like move, thus you would be the ideal person to file a recall on Cheryl Chow.

  3. Dan,
This looks like a bipartisan race - if Blomstrom stopped offending people, he might stand a chance of winning. Dorn (D) and Bergeson (R) both seem rather tainted.

Here's a good article posted by Joe Turner and I was not that impressed by Dorn's actions.

    http://blogs.thenewstribune.com/politics/2008/05/22/ospi_candidate_randy_dorn_tried_to_get_h

Bergerson is sort of like the Black Princess. She jousts, but does she rule. Typically, bumbleheads rule by imitating others.

This should be an interesting contest a sequal to Star Wars. Berg Vader and the evil empire vs. Dorg and the Rebels. Meanwhile Dave and other ewoks can sit in the trees and hurl bananas. My money's on Dave. (based on the Banana Principle)

BP - irony of hope that green bananas will in time ripen so they can be sold.

  5. You completely missed the boat.

First, you suggest that Bergeson corrupted the WASL, not Dorn. Even if that's true, why did Dorn wait until the last possible minute to speak out against the WASL? And why is the WASL virtually Dorn's only issue???

And you completely ignored that embarrassing little bit about Dorn trying to pass legislation to fatten his pension. If that isn't an example of corruption, then what is?

Then you write, "It is an easy decision to campaign for Randy Dorn as even though I would have preferred Rich Semler, Randy is the only candidate with a chance to remove TB from office."

In other words, you really don't care about Dorn's issues, ethics or qualifications - nor do you care about the other candidates. You're just going to jump on the media bandwagon and support whatever candidate appears to have the best shot at winning - in other words, the candidate supported by corrupt interests.

Your attitude is disgusting. You obviously don't care about the kids.

  6. Mr Blomstrom makes some good points but I see him as unelectable in this cycle.

While it may be true that Randy Dorn is a slick politician. He appears to have a much better capacity to listen to and work with others than TB.

To me at this time I am a Dorn Voter. Hopefully TB does not get 50% of the vote or more in the primary. Voters seem only faintly aware that this race is over and will never make it to the fall if one candidate gets over 50% of the vote.

I believe for Mr Blomstrom to be an electable candidate he will need to modify his vocabulary. I agree with several of his positions but the public at large will have difficulty voting in large enough numbers to elect him until he uses more acceptable vocabulary.

I see David as running to raise particular issues with matching vocabulary and website but hardly to win an election for state school superintendent. The vocabulary issue was pointed out last year in his run for Seattle School Director against Harium Martin-Morris. It remains a problem.

Certainly corporate interests have influenced education in ways that have been less than optimum. Like Mr Blomstrom I am not inspired by either political major party or their current candidates.

Perhaps Mr Blomstrom would present a three minute testimony at the Seattle School Board in Early August prior to the election, so a few more people would be aware of his positions, before the primary vote.

  7. Dan Dempsey wrote, "Mr Blomstrom makes some good points but I see him as unelectable in this cycle."

Spoken like a true spineless Seattle liberal. No wonder there are so few decent human beings in office in this state.

"While it may be true that Randy Dorn is a slick politician."

    Slick politician??? He's a SLEAZEBAG. Don't you get it? Oh, that's right - you're a sleazebag, too.

"He appears to have a much better capacity to listen to and work with others than TB."

The same could be said of any number of crooks, from Jimmy Hoffa to Dick Cheney.

"I believe for Mr Blomstrom to be an electable candidate he will need to modify his vocabulary."

People who value civility over democracy deserve neither. I call a spade a spade, and intelligent voters support my quest for accountability.

"I agree with several of his positions but the public at large will have difficulty voting in large enough numbers to elect him until he uses more acceptable vocabulary."

Blow it out your ass. You're just blowing more propaganda.

"I see David as running to raise particular issues with matching vocabulary and website but hardly to win an election for state school superintendent. The vocabulary issue was pointed out last year in his run for Seattle School Director against Harium Martin-Morris. It remains a problem."

Yes, you and your fellow whores droned on and on about my "vocabulary" while ignoring the ISSUES that just one candidate (YOURS TRULY) discussed. The result? Voteres (s)elected another slate of corrupt candidates - every one of them. But I guess a school board that's 100% corrupt is better than a corrupt school board tainted with a lone whistle-blower, isn't it?

"Certainly corporate interests have influenced education in ways that have been less than optimum."

Well, that's a politically correct way of putting it.

"Perhaps Mr Blomstrom would present a three minute testimony at the Seattle School Board in Early August prior to the election, so a few more people would be aware of his positions, before the primary vote."

Yeah, right, how many people attend school board meetings? And what percentage of those are ordinary citizens? I've attended enough school board meetings to know that they're packed with corrupt school officials, teachers union whores, media whores and operatives, like Dan Dempsey.

I'll say it again: Anyone who supports Randy Dorn can not be considered a friend of democracy, education or children. Randy Dorn is just as corrupt as Terry Bergeson, with whom he shares much in common. Bergeson and Dorn are just two sides of the same coin.

Rather than chucking their spines and supporting the "most electable" candidate, intelligent voters will take a closer look at all the candidates that are being studiously ignored by both the corporate media and Dan Dempsey.

I discuss more issues than all the other candidates combined, and I'm not afraid to tell it like it is.

  8. Dave, you sound like a former student of mine. A day could not pass without a crisis. Finally, I had to ask, what are your goals in life? The person I want to vote for has dreams and goals. You can face the issues, but that's not going to be enough to convince voters. Eliot Spitzer is a case in point.

And you sound like a Seattle liberal.

"A day could not pass without a crisis."

Sounds like the Seattle School District.

"Finally, I had to ask, what are your goals in life? The person I want to vote for has dreams and goals."

Well, that rules out just about all the candidates except for me.

"You can face the issues, but that's not going to be enough to convince voters."

Well, it will be tough when people like you are doing your best to confuse people.

"Eliot Spitzer is a case in point."

    Ah, the famous Eliot Spitzer.

What I wrote in my first post on this thread still stands: Randy Dorn is a BUCKET OF SLEAZE, and only a fool would vote for him, no matter how "electable" is. (Clue: Even scum buckets like Terry Bergeson and George W. Bush are "electable.")

Terry Bergeson is equally sleazy. Therefore, voters would be STUPID to not vote for one of the other candidates - unless all the other candidates are equally sleazy. It's simple logic.

Voters who don't visit each of the candidates' websites are also stupid. You aren't going to find the truth in the corporate media or phony activist blogs like this one.

  10. Even the worst candidates have goals and dreams. My advice, stop comparing yourself to crooks and whores. It doesn't make your message sound any better. I think once you've found some success, you won't sound so bitter. Its not the messenger, its the message!!!

  11. ANONYMOUS ranted, "Even the worst candidates have goals and dreams."

But do they have ISSUES? Do they even have credible campaign websites? Randy Dorn sure doesn't.

"My advice, stop comparing yourself to crooks and whores."

Don't be stupid; I don't compare myself with crooks and whores. I call a spade a spade, and if that spade's name rhymes with Randy Dorn, then I call HIM a crook and a whore.

"It doesn't make your message sound any better."

My message sounds just fine. If you have a problem with it, then maybe you need to scrape your mashed-potato brains together and ask yourself why Washington State's education system is so screwed up.

"I think once you've found some success, you won't sound so bitter. Its not the messenger, its the message!!!"

No, it's the messenger (e.g. ANONYMOUS) AND the message (e.g. BS).

  14. WHO ELSE IS RUNNING??? Sheez, is there any limit to you people's stupidity?

There are two "mainstream" candidates who are getting all the publicity from the corporate media and associated blogs, such as this one:

    Terry Bergeson
    Randy Dorn

There are four other candidates who are being generally ignored:

David Blomstrom (That's me, oh clueless one.)

    John Blair

The guy who got 1% of the vote when he ran for Governor four years ago (I can't think of his name at the moment.)

    Enid Duncan

    * * * * *

Bergeson and Dorn are two of Washington's biggest union whores, a category that might also include John Blair.

As far as I know, the only candidates who had websites before they filed as candidates were yours truly (David Blomstrom) and Randy Dorn - and Dorn's is a goofy business website.

As far as I know, all the candidates claim to be against the WASL except Terry Bergeson. However, Randy Dorn helped dumped the WASL on us in the first place, and he didn't claim to oppose it until a few weeks ago.

Does that answer your question, ANONYMOUS idiot?

  16. I haven't checked their websites recently. The last time I visited Terry Bergeson's campaign website, I couldn't even find the word "issues."

I think one or more candidates are talking about education funding. More precisely, they think education is under-funded. I don't agree; I think we need to take a bite out of the waste and corruption. Case in point: The Seattle School District's new superintendent just got a 10% pay raise. She's now earning nearly $300,000 a year - and she hasn't accomplished anything more than another derelict supe, the late John Stanford, who earned about $140,000 a year.

One important issue just one candidate is talking about is the corporatization of public education. I regard this as the #1 issue facing public education, yet the other candidates and the media are ignoring it.

  17. A few weeks ago I attended a public forum where all of the candidates running for Superintendent of Public Instruction expressed their thoughts on various educational topics. Well, 4 out of 6. A couple were no shows. I've been posting my notes on mightymothers.blogspot.com (see sidebar, Labels, scroll down to Vote). I linked this page to today's post, glad to have found the views of David Blomstrom (he was not at the forum) to give a better view of our scope of candidates.
