  1. I'd love to go, but I'm worried about being associated with various Math Malcontents.

Therefore, all you Math Malcontents, don't stand next to me unless you are in disguise.

  2. It should be added that a serious breach of trust has occurred from within the academic community. There are no standards for educational research in the US. The collusion that has occurred between curriculum researchers connected to Project 2061 and NSF is nothing short of criminal. Billions were wasted and children's lives were ruined for royalties. One will never forget the bigoted and racialist remarks by so-called educational leaders concerning minority achievement in the US. Singapore's success was achieved by thoughtful and honest appraisal of what students should be learning in the classroom. Contrast Singapore's popularity with parents and students to the reaction US students have with Core Plus. These are charlatans and they've been stealing from public education for their own private ends.

  3. My daughter's middle school doesn't allow the connected math textbooks to be brought home on account the kids lose them or destroy them. I've heard the kids hate math so much the teacher has to run photocopies of the assignments. The teacher said he doesn't have a choice - the administrators say he has to have the kids in groups learning by themselves. He's just there to assess them. I've never heard of such a thing. What idiot would think that? Who's running our schools? This is not a teacher problem, its a total breakdown in trust between government and the public. Get rid of these people, so we can get back to educating kids.

  4. I can't figure out how my 13 year old divides -- according to her 1 divided by 2 is 0 with a remainder of 1 and her teacher just says to round down. What is going on with our school system?
