Recently the California Standards edition of Singapore Math has arrived.
It is very similar to the extremely effective U.S. Edition but has a few changes.
Here is a nice article on what Singapore Math is about:
Singapore Math: Simple or Complex?, by John Hoven and Barry Garelick, Educational Leadership, Vol. 65, Nr. 3, Nov 2007.
Fortunately the changes in the new Standards edition are small. There is the obligatory ethnic diversity of people in the drawings. There are now some statistics and probability included but the original Singapore limitation of topics so as to focus on depth of understanding and acquisition of skills is still in place.
The Standards edition is only through grade 5.
The U.S. Edition is through grade 6.
